How to export canned sweet corn to Vietnam

1/ Import policy:
Based on the latest regulation (2017) canned sweet corn is not prohibited to be imported into Vietnam. However,
only product from registered countries are allowed to export to Vietnam. Countries that has not registered are subject
to adhoc approval.

2/ HS code
Depend on ultimate purpose or processing method, it can be classified into following group:
+ Group 20.01: Vegetables, fruit, nuts and other edible parts of plants, prepared or preserved by vinegar or acetic acid
=> HS 2001.90.90.
+ Group 20.04: Other vegetables prepared or preserved otherwise than by vinegar or acetic acid, frozen
(other than products of heading 20.06)
=> HS 2004.90.90.
+ Group 20.05:  Other vegetables prepared or preserved otherwise than by vinegar or acetic acid, not frozen, other than
products of heading 20.06. => HS 2005.80.00 (Zea mays var. saccharata)”.
+ Group 2006.00.00: Vegetables, fruit, nuts, fruit-peel and other parts of plants, preserved by sugar (drained, glace or crystallised).
+ Nhóm 07.10: Vegetable (uncooked or cooked by steaming or boiling in water), frozen => H.S 0710.40.00(sweet corn)
+ Nhóm 07.11: Vegetables provisionally preserved (for example, by sulphur dioxide gas, in brine, in sulphur water or in
other preservative solutions), but unsuitable in that state for immediate consumption. => H.S 0711.90.10 (sweet corn)


However, to get exact H.S classification, importer or exporter can apply for advance filling
 
3/ Plant quarantine
Sweet corn is under plant quarantine supervision, by that sample will be taken upon arrival of the shipment. Based on final examination result, the shipment will be accpeted or reject to import

4/ Food safety
Food safety is controlled by Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Sample of commodity is taken to laboratory
for examination upon arrival

5/ Import duties
Vietnam apply different duties for commodity from various countries
Preferential tariff: ASEAN countries, Australia & New Zealand, China, Korea, Japan, India, EAEU countries, Chile
